Our dam was built in the mid 1800’s and originally used for Hydro Power. It is not a storage reservoir or a flood control structure. It’s considered a “Run-of-the-river” Dam. It currently artificially raises the water level in the downtown of Rockford between 3 -12 feet and as little affect further up stream. In addition, the timing of the gate opens has little to no impact on flood crests.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
