There will be another responsible adjustment made again today.

One of my main accomplishments over my 40 plus years on the river was getting a gauge installed at the fordham dam so everyone could see that water levels are not being allowed to be held artificially high.

With previous administrations i measured water levels as high as 3.5 at the dam.

I did this by climbing out onto the spillway, with a measuring stick and adding the height of the dam to the amount of water going over the top.

I then through the homeowners association had a survey done at Davis park and a gauge put on The Wall. So there was an accurate reading for everyone to see.

Previous administrations did nothing to act on running the dam proactively.

Before elected, gary caruana came to a board meeting and asked what our concerns were with flooding on the river.

We informed him that water levels Where not being adjusted in a proactive manner, and were keeping no wake levels in place much longer than needed for our community.

I can’t tell you how many people have come up to me when I am out in public and say, what a great job is being done with our association, the sheriff and the com ed partnership.

There are over a million dollars worth of boats. In the water from auburn street bridge to the dam.

There is no way that anyone is going to allow the dam to be run in a negligent manner to put all those boats on the bottom of the riverbed, just so that a sump pump is not running today.

We are still projected to stay below the no wake level. Even with all this rain that has fallen.

Sheriff gary caruana has informed me that com ed will be out again today to make another responsible adjustment for the third day in a row to our dam.

This is what strong leadership and a great partnership with com ed looks like.

I for one, am not willing to take a chance at electing another administration and losing this great partnership that we have going now.

For the one 1000th time, our dam is not a flood control dam.

There is not a flood control dam on the entire rock river basin.

Every dam on the rock river is going through adjustments to maintain responsible water levels up stream for their community’s for the next week.

This is what happens every time there is excessive water in a drainage basin.

The river that is associated with that drainage basin rises due to billions of gallons of water that have fallen from the sky and has to travel down the respective river that they encompass.

That’s the beauty of our smartphones. We can Google any USGS river basin in the country and see what the river level is for any river.

Just rest assured that the Rock River homeowners association, Sheriff Gary Caruana and com ed are continuing every day of the year to make sure water levels in Winnebago County are where they are supposed to be with the current flow rate.

Sorry for the long post but I refuse to let misinformation be spread on the internet as it pertains to our rock river community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The story when it rains, it pours, just won’t let up.
