Well, it would appear our drought concerns, are a thing of the past at the moment.
Current river temperature, 74°.
Current river level at Latham is down to 4.79.
This water level translates to 1.3 million gallons per hour. Flowing down our river.
With the current projection, we are anticipating 2.8 million gallons per hour flowing down our drainage canal.
We were projected to go to 8.1 at latham by Saturday.
With a large portion of rain hitting south of our drainage basin last night, the national weather service has revised the projected crest to 7.4 now at Latham, for Saturday.
The national weather service puts on the projection based on current rain plus what is projected for 24 hours ahead.
The sheriff has started responsible proactive adjustments to our dam. As needed with flow rates increasing due to precipitation in our basin.
I will be attending my last captain’s meeting tonight for the iron man and i’m sure river levels will be the main topic of discussion.
We were able to get the damaged Marina out at rock River towers before Sunday’s event.
For the record per senior hydrologist, Scott Lincoln of the national weather service.
There is not one dam on the entire rock river that is a flood control dam.
Also our dam does not have the ability to store water.
There are always going to be people who are affected with water In there, flood-prone basements along our river that wished there was more than should be done.
Trust me, if that was the case. It would be.
All eyes are on the forecast for tonight to see how much rain falls in our 6000 square mile drainage basin to our north from platville, Wisconsin to Madison, to Milwaukee.
The sheriff will continue to monitor river conditions and make adjustments as needed for Winnebago County residents.
I will do another update tomorrow for this weekend’s Iron man event.
