Current river temperature, 74°.
Current river level 4.1 at Latham, so we are going to drought level.
There is still water for boating but this will keep some of the big boats off the river this weekend, I’m sure.
There have been a couple of hit and run boat accidents in the last week on our stretch of the river.
In the first one a boat ran into the side of the ski Bronx jump and bent some angle iron that my crew was able to repair.
The second one was at night to a residential dock on the north end of shore drive.
The dock did have lights on it.
I’m sure both boats sustain damage from these accidents of hit and run.
We had a fun time, creating the largest 2 headed rock nest monster that I’ve been involved with.
Pickle’s son and daughter in-law yt and jackie anderson brought a friend with to help.
Brittany informed me that when she was ten, she helped with a creation.
She’s now in her 20s and was very appreciative to be part of this latest creation
We also brought 7 grandchildren
To give them the experience of being part of the local tradition.
An hours worth of work and 3 gallons of paint later, I believe our largest Rock nest monster in history, is now available for everyone’s viewing enjoyment at the entrance to sports core Lagoon.
We also installed 14 color changing LED solar lights. That make for a beautiful sight at night.
My crew parked this tree in April during the flood event to stop it from doing any damage downstream to residential or commercial docks.
Work is underway at stone’s landing which most of us know is the harlem boat ramp.
Phase one is to create more parking spaces, along with a walking path and the fishing pier.
There is also plans for permanent restrooms at the location in the future.
Weather looks to be good this weekend and hopefully the wildfire smoke doesn’t get too intense again in our area.
Let’s have a great safe, fun weekend on the Rock River. And all make it back to the dock, safe and sound.
