Current river level 4.3 at latham.
The little bit of rain that we got this week helped to keep our river level from going to extreme drought.
The gates on our dam have been completely closed for the last month.
With our dam being a run of the river dam, flow still continues to go downstream over the spillway on both sides of the dam gates.
Beloit has all their manual gates closed, and they have their splashboards up in the middle of the dam.
They do have one gate open to allow water to flow this way for us.
Janesville and beloit power plants on the river rely on river levels to dictate their power output.
While flow rate is what determines power output at rockton. Due to the raceway that comes through their power plant.
Beloit and janesville, are at 80% power output.
The low flow has rockton down to 50% output.
Enjoyed seeing the fire department flying the american flag in front of the firehouse this morning in rockton.
The corn and soybeans are starting to change color which is just another reminder that fall is soon to me knocking on our door.
I still have been feeding my pet ducks at sun up and sun down.
Looks like the word got out. Because now I have three carp, joining them for meal time.
Jackie and Yt anderson made a visit to hoo haven this morning to drop off some much needed supplies they have requested.
They were able to visit with resident pickle, the pelican.
Since YT was the one who pulled him on to the boat during the rescue, I asked if pickle recognized him and tried to get away.
He said he didn’t think pickle recognized him and was very relaxed around him.
The wound on his neck from the stuck catfish bone has completely healed.
He is making progress with his wing, but has still a long road to recovery before he will be able to fly again.
Hang in there pickle, we’re all praying for a full recovery. So you can join your family down in Florida this winter.
We had quite the nice weather for labor day and the river was quite full of boats and families having a great time.
I would like to thank everyone for practicing defensive driving so that we had a safe weekend for all.
Still plenty of warm weather ahead to enjoy the river and hope to see everyone out again this weekend having fun.
