Easter Weekend Update 4/4/26

Current river temperature, 49°.
Current river height 5.5 at latham.

April showers bring may flowers.
I measured 3 inches of rain in love’s park over the last few days.

Mother nature is replenishing the moisture in the farm fields finally.

By looking at the river gages, we can see that more rain fell in the Kishwaukee river basin, Then in the Rock River basin.
In Byron river levels have gone up 3 feet.
In our area, we’re seeing about a 1foot rise.

The national weather service puts up a prediction  Dotted line on the latham gage to show where river levels might go based on projected rain in The Basin.

This projection is usually revised down when not as much widespread rain  is recorded in The Basin.

Com ed and sheriff gary caruana have a great working relationship again this year. To make adjustments when needed at our dam.

There have been 2 such adjustments made this week.
To keep river levels in spec at the dam.

Our spring fever Temperatures appear to have cooled off for the near future.

River levels are still in a normal range. So debris is not really noticeable in the river yet.

I will update when the national weather service puts out its spring rain outlook.
