Weekend Update 9/5/25

Current River temperature is 67°

Current River level at Latham is 4.7

This is 9 in from drought level.

The lack of rain is causing our River levels to drop.

Sheriff Caruana has been in contact with Com Ed this morning to close the two of our gates that are still open 3 ft.

The cool evenings are cooling off our River temperature for water activities.

Don’t let this discourage you. It’s still summer time in the forest city.

Tonight is the last City market so if you have not been out, make an effort before the summer is over to experience downtown rockford.

Renovations have not started yet at Davis Park so the dock is still in.

You are missing the boat if you have not gone down town and parked on this dock at embassy suites to see what Rockford looks like from the rooftop.

Saturday night will be rocking at Tad’s bar with the group naughty naughty playing. This group is amazing and will have people dancing the night away.

Show starts at 5:00 p.m.

I was honored to take the go- Rockford committee members along with a fishing tournament director for a boat ride this morning to show them our 15 mi stretch of the Rock River.

They are hoping to bring a female and male Bass tournament group to our area next september.

I can’t thank them enough for giving me a personalized captain’s hat that I will wear proudly.

The ladies were very appreciative that my boat comes with blankets.

Some of us may be thinking it’s a little cool for boat rides this weekend, compared to what the weather’s going to be in another 2 months you’d be wise to grab blankets and enjoy our beautiful River before mother nature freezes us out.

Look forward to seeing families out on the river this weekend.

Be observant when you’re out boating, there is not much debris in the water this week.

Be careful and make it back to the dock safe and sound.
