Weekend Update 10/3/25

Current river temperature is 70 degrees

Current river level 4.4 at latham.

River level is still about six inches above extreme drought level, which is surprising since we have not had rain in for ever.

A local artist has installed a sculpture at the Auburn street sand bar

The individuals are paying tribute to the rock Ness monster that has adorned our area for over five decades. You’ll notice the girl in the front with Her eye peering through a monocular checking out rock nessie.

The canoe is anchored and visible from land.

The head of the rock regatta is next sunday.

Teams from all over the country will be in town for this annual event.

In preparation, the docks at the y m c a rowing club have been repositioned.

They all have flashing yellow lights on the ends of them for safety. Please be observant if you are boating down that way this weekend.

We are in fall now which means the sun sets close to 6:30 pm now.

There seems to be a handful of individuals with jet skis that are making a bad name for the rest of us.

On Monday evening, I encountered a red and white jet ski at 7:05 PM downtown.

I shined a spotlight on him so other boaters could see him.

This turned into a heated discussion, and he sprayed my boat and took off for martin park.

I was not able to get law Enforcement there before he was able to leave the area.

These are not river residents violating the no jet skis after dark laws.

With the unseasonably warm weather this weekend, I’m sure the river will be full of boats and jet skis. Getting in the last warm ride.

It has become all too common to see boats out at night without working navigation lights.

Please don’t be one of those boaters, check and repair your lights before you stay out after dark.

We have had a relatively safe summer on the river. And we don’t want it to end with a tragedy For someone being careless.

Looking at the forecast for next week, it appears our 80 degree days are numbered.

Our trees have not started to change color yet, But our river is still a beautiful View By boat.

I am seeing Homeowners have started to remove their boats for the season.

It is much nicer to have warm weather to clean up the boat and put it away for the season before it fills up with leaves.

If you’re waiting for that one last warm boat ride This is your weekend.

Please be observant as the river could be busy this weekend.
