Mother nature was angry last night and dumped an excessive amount of precipitation in our 6000 square mile drainage basin.
The weather service prediction has us going to minor flood stage for the weekend.
Com ed is at the dam now making adjustments to the 4 gates.
Gate 4 had a tree wedged over the top of it that needed to be removed with a saw.
Local residents can’t thank sheriff caruana and com ed enough for their prompt attention to this matter.
I will continue to update throughout the week as conditions improve or worsen.
It appears we have dozens of pelicans visiting the area as they migrate north.
They are all hanging out on the downstream side of our dam now.
If you ever want to know how much force water has, I suggest you come down south main and turn in by the train tracks.
There is a pedestrian bridge that runs across the river. Just downstream of the dam and the whirlpool is getting quite intense.
We have not had high water for a couple of years, this means countless complete trees with rootballs are starting to dislodge and float down the river.
The SHERIFF will be imposing a no wake on the river soon and could possibly even close it to recreational boating by the weekend.
With the high water, many of the boat ramp walkways will be underwater.
Recreational boating is strongly discouraged at the present time.
