There was a gate adjustment at the dam today to rein in water levels draining downtown.
Before everybody throws a temper tantrum, the dam is not designed for flood control.
There is a $100000 permanent floating dock at Davis park that would have suffered damage. Had this not occurred.
To raise the water, almost 2 feet downtown caused the water in Machesney Park at the Latham Gauge to go up 2 inches.
We will continue to see river levels decrease because the pec and sugar river flow rates continues to fall.
The only way our river can continue to go lower is with the faucet from freeport and wisconsin continuing to decrease.
We spent all day cleaning and marking debris on the river.
We’re on the recovery phase of the moderate flood that we just went through.
We are very fortunate that mother nature spared us more rain.
We did much better than river residents on the fox and Wolf River this spring.
The weather is not ideal for boating accept for today, so that should give area residence more time for their properties to dry out.
There is quite a bit of damage suffered to river residents that got clobbered by seventy foot trees during the onslaught of mother nature cleaning our drainage basin.
