Current river temperatures 63 degrees.
All area rivers have crested, and we are at 6.4 at Latham.
Dock ramps at sports core are still out of water. So no getting your feet wet walking out on to the dock this weekend.
I met with the park district this week about raising the concrete approaches up. So that we don’t have that problem. When we have normal elevated river levels.
Work is slowly progressing on the permanent peers At stone’s landing.
The dock at roscoe park did not get moved in time, so it is underwater currently.
The rain that we received seems to have cleansed most of the algae bloom out of the river.
The rain brought our river up about 2 feet from where we were before. But it also brought a surprising number of trees floating down the river.
We spent a couple of days clearing customers docks of hung up trees.
The big ones we were able to get parked again alongshore.
For the most part, there really isn’t much floating down the river now.
Pickle the pelican update.
Karen informed me that his wing has healed Nicely, the swelling it’s pretty much gone.
He is eating like a king every day.
The incision from removing the catfish bone has completely healed.
Now for sandy the pelican update.
We are scheduled monday morning to go up with a crew of five, we will be bringing my john boat and two jet skis.
Jeff taber will also be providing his drone to get sandy to hopefully move upstream of the tripwire.
The dam operator for the roscoe powerhouse will also be in attendance.
I apologize. I was not able to make it happen this week with my workload.
Hopefully by Monday, the current will have slowed a little bit to make things less hazardous for us during the rescue.
Sandy does make daily upstream swims to an inlet north of the dam for feeding according to my observer, who lives just north of the dam.
